Invented in the mid-1950’s by neuroscientist Dr. John Lilly to access a range of higher brain function, meditation, and healing. It is based on a scientific approach to deep relation called R.E.S.T (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy). Floating in a floatation tank triggers a deep relaxation response, deeper than normal sleep and enables us to drift into the elusive Theta state.
Floatation Therapy has many physical and mental benefits reducing the central nervous system’s workload as much as 90%. This triggers a reaction known as the parasympathetic response where muscle tension, blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen consumption are reduced dramatically. Stress hormones are also reduced and replaced with the uplifting endorphins.
Many studies have been done on Floatation Therapy and their effectiveness on pain, stress, addictions, depression, and anxiety to name a few. You can read more about each of the studies here or feel free to watch these short video describing the benefits of Floatation Therapy by clicking here.
